    * BATTERY MAINTENANCE*

    - 1.  Daily  checks & Activities.

     Charga the battery after every discharge. Towards the end of charge the electrolyte level should be checked and if necessary topped up to the specified level with water complying to correct impurity standards. The electrolyte level must not fall below the top of the separator.

    - 2. Weekly checks & Activities.

     Visually inspect battery after reacharge for cleanliness and signs of mechanical damage, particularly the connectors, charging cables and sockets ( plug ). Clean the battery top with a damp soft cloth. This is to prevent accumulation of acid mist which cause electrical leakage causing the battery to fail prematurely. Accumulation of acid on the cell top causes corrosion to develop over time.

    - 3. Monthly checks & Activities.

     Following the recharge, with the charger switched on, measure and record the voltages, specific gravities and temperature of all cells.

     After charging has been completed and with a minimum 2 hours rest time, the electrolyte, electrolyte temperature and filling level must be measured and recorded. If there are significant changes form earlier measurement or differences between cells are found, further testing and maintenance by a Forklift MMS Vietnam representative is recommended.

    - 4. Care of the battery.

     The battery should always be kept clean and dry to prevent leakage currents.  Cleaning must be done in accordance with the ZVEI code of practice "Thể Cleaning of Vehicle Traction Batteries" Any liquid in the battery tray must be extracted and disposed of in the prescribed manner. Damage to the insulation of tray should be rectified after cleaning, ensuring insulation value complies with BS EN 50272-3 and to prevent tray corrosion.
